Concrete Rose Project

In 2024, over 180 DC natives died to gun violence. We want to help.

The Concrete Rose Project is an effort to give flowers to DC residents and families who are experiencing loss due to gun violence. If you or someone you know have lost a loved one due to gun violence in Washington, DC and would like to receive a flower delivery, we would love to offer our services to you. We know that flowers have their limitations, but we also believe that the act of giving is a blessing to both the giver and receiver, and hope that the effort of delivering flowers can bring joy in this time of grieving.

There is no cost for this assistance, yet we need your help to meet our goal of reaching one DC family per month. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Volunteer a DC resident to receive flowers by completing the form below.

Dear Flower Bud,

If you are filling out this form, someone close to you has passed due to gun violence in Washington, DC. With all the love in our hearts, we want to offer our deepest condolences. There are no words to adequately comfort you. However, it is our humble and sincere hope that we might connect with you via flowers, with hope to offer some comfort and ease in your time of sorrow.

We are a startup floral design company that practices social enterprise. Our founder, Kehmari Norman, experienced the heartbreak of gun violence when her uncles, Jason (b. 1986) and Khalid Bryant (b. 1978), were murdered together in Northeast, DC on February 28, 2014. Their murderers were never convicted. The suffering of that loss seeded a passion in Kehmari to help others that too experienced an unforeseen loss in the District of Columbia.

Please fill out the form below and tell us as much as you can about the recipient. Within 48-hours, a member of our team will be in touch to connect you with someone or update you on the status of your delivery.

Please note that your information will not be shared outside of this organizing team.
If you are looking to volunteer your services to deliver flowers, please email hello@blackflowermarket.com.

In Solidarity,

Kehmari
